The Sun Hydraulics DSCBXGV (DSCBXGV) is a direct-acting, 3-way directional cartridge valve designed for moderate flow circuits. This versatile component can function independently or be utilized to actuate larger pilot-operated directional or logic cartridges. Its operational mechanism involves shifting when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 surpasses the set threshold. Notably, pressure at port 3 impacts the valve's setting directly, which may limit its use as a work port; in such cases, a 4-port variant might be more suitable. The DSCBXGV is characterized by low internal leakage and minimal pilot flow consumption due to its direct-acting design. It is capable of modulating between two positions but is not bistable. The maximum allowable pressure at port 3 is capped at 3000 psi (210 bar) due to fatigue strength constraints, not hydraulic limits. The valve employs Sun's floating style construction to reduce the risk of internal part binding from excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity/cartridge interface. With a T11A cavity and Series 1 designation, it offers a capacity of up to 10 gpm (40 L/min). The valve has a hex size of 7/8 inch (22.2 mm) and requires an installation torque ranging from 30 to 35 lbf-ft (41 to 47 Nm). For maintenance, Viton seal kits are available under part number 990011006.

Direct-acting, 3-way directional cartridges (1 blocked, 2 to 3 open) are switching devices typically used in moderate flow circuits. They can be used by themselves or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the setting.

  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the setting of the valve. Because of this, port 3 may not be useable as a work port in your circuit. If this is a consideration, the 4 port version of this valve may be a solution.
  • Because of their direct-acting design, these cartridges feature low internal leakage and low pilot flow consumption.
  • This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
  • Maximum pressure at port 3 should be limited to 3000 psi (210 bar). This is due to fatigue strength limits not hydraulic operating limits.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
