The sliding curve is used for the horizontal change in direction of the chain, if the installation space for a curve wheel is not sufficient or the speeds or product dimensions do not permit transport via the curve wheel. The sliding curve is used to reduce noise at high speeds or when transporting long products in wedge conveyors. The chain tensile force is increased through the ensuing friction.
