The Sun Hydraulics NCFCLDN (NCFCLDN) is a needle valve with reverse flow check, designed to provide precise flow regulation. This valve is fully adjustable from a closed position to its maximum orifice diameter, allowing for tailored flow control needs. It features an integral high-capacity check valve that ensures unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. However, it is important to note that this valve is not pressure compensated, meaning the flow regulation depends on the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2. The NCFCLDN utilizes a balanced adjustment mechanism for smooth operation even under high-pressure conditions. Its sharp-edged orifice design minimizes variations in flow due to changes in fluid viscosity. Engineered with Sun's floating style construction, the NCFCLDN minimizes internal binding risks caused by excessive installation torque or machining variations within the cavity-cartridge interface. This model has a capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min) and can withstand a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The leakage rate is minimal, with a maximum of 5 drops per minute at standard fluid conditions. The valve allows up to 5.5 counterclockwise turns from fully closed to open for adjustment. Installation specifications include a hex size of 1-1/4 inches and an installation torque range of 150-160 lbf ft (203-217 Nm). The adjustment screw uses an internal hex size of 5/32 inches, while the locknut requires a hex size of 9/16 inches and torque between 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). Weighing approximately 1.30 lb (0.60 kg), this model comes with a Viton seal kit option for enhanced durability and performance in various hydraulic applications.

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
