The Sun Hydraulics FTDCXWN (FTDCXWN) is a 4-way, 3-position proportional directional valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve features work ports 2 and 4 that are drained to port 5 in the center position, while port 3 remains closed. It operates by utilizing pilot pressure at port 1 to oppose the spring, creating a variable metering orifice between ports 3 and 4 proportional to the pressure at port 1. Piloting at port 6 opens the flow between ports 3 and 2, allowing for a degree of partial self-compensation as load pressures fluctuate. The valve is characterized by its floating style construction, minimizing potential binding from installation torque or machining variations. The FTDCXWN model is capable of handling a maximum operating pressure of up to 5000 psi (350 bar), with nominal operating pressures for ports 1 and 6 not exceeding 500 psi (35 bar).
