The Sun Hydraulics FPCHTBN812 (Material Number: FPCHTBN812) is a versatile, normally-open electroproportional throttle valve designed for precise fluid control in hydraulic systems. This valve operates with pressures up to 5000 psi and features a spring-biased open position. When the coil is energized, it generates a closing force on the spool proportional to the command current, countered by the spring and flow forces to create a metering orifice. This design ensures a high degree of self-compensation in one flow direction and allows proportional flow control in the reverse direction with an external compensator. The valve supports full reverse flow without command under all conditions. The FPCHTBN812 is available in normally open or closed configurations and offers three different capacity ranges with low leakage levels when closed. Its solenoid coils are interchangeable with other Sun Hydraulics' solenoid-operated valves, providing flexibility during installation. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The manual override options include several configurations such as momentary-twist (option E), which allows shifting by twisting 90 degrees clockwise. The manual override assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles. Additional specifications include a cavity size of T-13A, series 1 capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min), maximum valve leakage at specific conditions, and specific installation torque requirements. The valve's hex size is 7/8 inch (22.2 mm), solenoid tube diameter is .75 inch (19 mm), and it weighs approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg) with the coil installed. Seal kits are available in Viton material for durability and compatibility with various fluids.

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
