The Sun Hydraulics FPCCTCN (Material Number: FPCCTCN) is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased closed and activates by energizing the coil, which generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current. This force creates a metering orifice whose effective size adjusts with the current, offering a large degree of self-compensation in one direction and proportional flow control in the opposite direction with an external compensator. It can handle pressures up to 5000 psi and offers low leakage levels when closed. Available in normally open or closed configurations, this valve comes in three capacity ranges and features interchangeable coils that are compatible with other Sun solenoid-operated valves. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The valve includes several manual override options, including temporary detent mechanisms for models equipped with D or L controls, which have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles. This model incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal binding risks due to installation torque variations. It fits into a T-13A cavity and has a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min). The valve exhibits maximum leakage of 6 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi (100 cc/min at 210 bar) when using hydraulic oil at 110 SUS (24 cSt). The solenoid tube diameter is .75 inches (19 mm), with a hex size of .78 inches (22.2 mm). Installation torque ranges from 30 to 35 lbf-ft (41 to 47 Nm), and it weighs approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg) with the coil installed. For systems using phosphate ester fluids, EPDM seals are available but should not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as they can cause seal damage.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
