The Sun Hydraulics FPCCMBN224N (FPCCMBN224N) is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise fluid control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased to remain closed until the coil is energized, which generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current. This force is countered by the spring and flow forces, creating a metering orifice whose effective size adjusts according to the current input. The valve self-compensates significantly in the 1 to 2 direction and provides proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with an external compensator addition. It allows full reverse flow from 2 to 1 without a compensator when fully commanded. This model offers configurations in either normally open or closed setups and supports three different capacity ranges. It operates under pressures up to 5000 psi, ensuring robust performance for demanding applications. The valve features low leakage levels when closed and interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun solenoid-operated valves, allowing flexible installation. Manual override options include several choices, such as no manual override or temporary actuation with detent mechanisms. For optimal performance, utilizing an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz is recommended. Models equipped with D or L control have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles for their manual controls. Additionally, EPDM seals are available for systems using phosphate ester fluids but are incompatible with petroleum-based substances. The FPCCMBN224N incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity machining variations. It fits into a T-13A cavity and has a capacity of up to 10 gpm (40 L/min). The valve's compact design includes specifications like a solenoid tube diameter of .75 inches (19 mm) and an installation torque requirement of 30-35 lbf-ft (41-47 Nm).

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
